Content Policy

What you may not make here, what happens when you press the button, and, just as importantly, what this policy is not.

Not allowed

  • Sexual content involving children, in any form, described any way. This is the one rule with no discussion attached.
  • Sexual content generally. This is not that kind of site.
  • Real violence: images of actual harm to real people, or content that celebrates it.
  • Pictures made to deceive: a real, identifiable person shown doing or saying something they did not, presented as real.
  • Content whose purpose is to harass, threaten or degrade someone.
  • Anything illegal where you are.

What actually happens when you press the button

We want to be exact here, because “we use advanced AI moderation” is the kind of sentence that means nothing.

Before anything is sent, your description passes a short check on this server. It refuses six words outright and eight pairs of words that are only a problem together: “child” and “nude” in the same description, for instance, while either word alone is perfectly ordinary and passes. A rule that banned “child” outright would refuse a children’s book illustration. Descriptions longer than 2000 characters are refused as well.

Those numbers are the whole of it, and we would rather say so than imply something larger. It is a word list, not a moderation system. It matches whole words, so it will not refuse “grapes” for containing something it should not. It will not catch a determined person, and it is not trying to: it is a floor that costs nothing to enforce, placed where refusing is free.

Then fal.ai checks it too, with their own safety system, and refuses what they refuse. Their refusal costs you nothing: the credits come back, whether the refusal arrives immediately or after the request was accepted.

Nobody reads your descriptions routinely. There is no review queue and nobody sitting behind this. The description is stored with the job so a result can be traced to the request that made it, and it can be looked at while a specific problem is being investigated. That is all.

Uploads

You may upload a picture that is yours, or that you have permission to use.

Uploading a photograph of another person to restyle or animate needs that person’s agreement. We have no way to check this and are not going to pretend otherwise: it rests on you.

Uploads must be JPEG, PNG or WebP, and under 10 MB. Anything else is refused before it is sent anywhere. What happens to the file after that is set out in what happens to your picture.

Real people

Please do not generate pictures of identifiable real people, and especially not in situations they were never in.

That is a request, and it is worth saying plainly that it is only a request. Nothing on this site detects a person’s name or recognises a face. The check described above is a list of words. If you do this anyway, you are the one exposed: to that person, and to the law where you live.

If you break this

We can delete the content, close the account, or both: without notice for the first rule on the list, and with an explanation for the others.

Telling us about something

If you find content made here that breaks this policy, write to us through the contact page and choose “Report content” as the topic. Say where you saw it. A person reads it.
