The short version
The site takes no money. There is nothing to refund, because nothing has been paid. Everything below is about credits, which are not money.
When credits come back on their own
A generation that fails returns its credits. If the service refuses the request, never answers, or answers with something unusable, the credits go back to your balance automatically. You do not have to ask and you do not have to notice: the return is recorded in the same list your balance is calculated from, with a reason beside it.
That holds however late the failure arrives. A request can be accepted, run, and still come back broken; the credits return in that case too.
A refusal costs nothing. If your description is refused before anything is sent, no credits are taken in the first place. The order is deliberate and it is the order in the code: the description is checked, then the daily ceiling, then the hourly limit, and only then is anything charged.
Hitting a limit costs nothing. If you have made 20 generations in an hour, or the site has reached its ceiling of $20 of generation cost for the day, you are told which one it was and charged nothing.
When credits do not come back
A result you do not like. The generation worked, the service was used, and the cost was real on our side. Taste is not a failure.
This is the honest reason the first 20 credits are free: so you can find out whether the site suits you while nothing is at stake.
Deleting a result. Deleting a picture from your account frees the space, not the credits. The work was already done and already paid for on our side.
Credits are not money
They cannot be exchanged for money, sold, transferred to another account, or carried anywhere else. They were not bought, and no quantity of them adds up to a claim on us.
They also do not expire. There is nothing on this site that removes credits from an account for sitting still.
If payment is ever added
This page will be rewritten before that happens, not after, and the new version will say plainly what can be got back and how long there is to ask for it. In the European Union that means at least the fourteen-day right of withdrawal for digital services, which is yours regardless of what any policy page says.
Until then there is nothing here to buy: no card is asked for anywhere, and no page on this site can take a payment.
If your balance looks wrong
Write to us through the contact page and say roughly when it happened. Every credit added and every credit spent is recorded with a reason, and your balance is the sum of that list rather than a number we keep and edit, so a mistake is something that can be looked up rather than guessed at.
